OpenSkies is a fully owned subsidiary of British Airways and was established in 2008. This was due British Airways wanting to reduce its dependency on London Heathrow (EGLL) on flights between Europe and the United States . Its home base is Paris Orly and operates transatlantic flights.
In 2010 British Airways merged with Iberia and resulted in the formation of IAG (International Airlines Group), who is also the parent company of Aer Lingus, Iberia, Vueling and Level.
British Airways owns the subsidiaries of BA CityFlyer but also has franchise agreements with South Africa's Comair and Scandinavian Sun Air.
